It took me a long time but I finally decided my answer was “Yes!” The impact was immediate and the start of a journey that has significantly increased my influence, impact and made me more successful.
For me the key to saying “Yes” involved challenging myself with some key questions. They were these:
- Am I more interested in spending my energy convincing everybody that I am ‘right’ or in spending my energy being more influential?
- Am I really aware of the impact I have on others when I am pursuing being right?
- Is leadership more of a job title or a choice and who is it for?
- How do I learn and improve and what am I blind too or disregard at personal loss?
Guilt also played a part. It can best be summed up by the quote from Jay Danzie:
“Your smile is your logo, your personality is your business card, how you leave others feeling after an experience with you becomes your trademark [and brand]”
Always be prepared to challenge yourself and break new ground … your world needs the best version of you that you can be!
